Family-owned across three generations. About 30 of us, running 10 to 12 jobs at a time, interior and exterior, since June 1998. We work out of Lake Hall Road in northeast Tallahassee, off Thomasville Road near Maclay Gardens, and we paint houses all over town.

Tallahassee Magazine named us Best Residential Painter in its Best of Tallahassee awards in 2023, 2024, and 2025. In 2025 the magazine described us as a "family-owned residential and commercial repaint company, providing interior and exterior painting services, along with pressure washing and minor wood rot repair." In 2023 it put it shorter: "skilled painters who will never be satisfied until the customer is satisfied." That is the job. Three years in a row of Tallahassee people saying so is the part we are proud of.
A word from Gerard
I started Superior Painting in 1998 and brought my father in as a partner. I still live in Tallahassee and I still walk estimates. My dad is still in the business too, mornings, checking jobs and running materials.
We are the painter whose crew you will recognize the second time, whose estimator was a painter first, and who tells you about the soft wood before the quote.

How a job goes

Call or request. Phone or the free estimate form, whichever you like. A person calls you back.2
Estimate visit. Marshall or Gerard walks the house with you, inside or out, and you get a written quote. If there is soft wood, we tell you before we quote it.3
Prep, protect, paint. Two or three painters show up, put down canvas, move the heavy stuff on sliders, and paint. If it rains for three days, we reschedule and give you the new date.4
Walkthrough. We stand behind our work.
Payment is check, ACH, or card.
Fall is exterior season
We paint year-round. October and November are Tallahassee's driest months and the easiest window for exterior work, and those weeks book up in late summer. April and May are the other dry stretch. June through August is the wet season, so exterior days slip when it rains. If you want the outside of the house done this fall, call now.

Questions we hear every week
Do I have to be home? No. We can arrange a way to get in and work while you are away.
What if it rains? Jobs slip. If it rains for three days, we reschedule and tell you the new date.
Will you help me pick colors? You choose the color, and our painters will tell you how it reads on a big wall. Tell us before day one if you change your mind, and we will work with you on it.
